Sources: 7. Developments: 2. The Ball State Cardinals and Kent State Golden Flashes are scheduled to meet in their Mid-American Conference opener on September 26 at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. Both teams enter the matchup with 1-2 records following recent losses to Liberty and Ohio State, respectively. Ball State has historically held a significant advantage in the series, winning six of the last seven meetings, including a 17-13 victory last year. The Cardinals are looking to improve their penalty management following their loss to Liberty. Kent State, entering as a modest 2.5-point favorite, seeks to snap a four-game losing streak against the Cardinals and end a conference-opening drought dating back to 2022. Key players for the Golden Flashes include quarterback Dru DeShields, the team leader in total offense, and receiver Wayne Harris. On the defensive side, Kent State will attempt to pressure a Ball State offensive line that has surrendered eight sacks this season. Projections for the contest suggest a high-scoring matchup with an expected combined yardage of approximately 742 yards. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-25: Kent State and Ball State to open MAC play at Dix Stadium Kent State and Ball State begin Mid-American Conference football play this Saturday at Dix Stadium, with both teams holding 1-2 records heading into the matchup. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kent-state-and-ball-state-to-open-mac-play-at-dix-stadium ### 2026-09-23: Ball State football faces Kent State in MAC opener Ball State football opens Mid-American Conference play against Kent State on September 26, seeking to extend their four-game winning streak in the series. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kent-state-hosts-mid-american-conference-matchups-in-football-and-volleyball --- Cite as: Ball State and Kent State football matchup.
