Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo achieved a historic scoring performance against the Washington Wizards, recording 83 points. This feat marks the second-highest single-game total in NBA history, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81 points and trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point record. During the 42-minute appearance, Adebayo made 20 of 43 shots and converted 36 of 43 free throws.

Following the performance, Adebayo addressed criticism regarding his decision to remain in the game during the final quarter to pursue the record, stating, ‘I knew exactly what I was doing.’ Former teammate Jimmy Butler praised the performance, describing Adebayo as an ‘incredibly talented player.’

Looking toward the 2026-27 season, Adebayo dismissed suggestions that the Heat would only be a play-in tournament team, citing improved team energy following the additions of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Klay Thompson to the roster.
