In late September, the bank sponsored a specialized training workshop in Jericho for local authorities. Conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, the program focused on first aid and emergency response to improve the readiness of local bodies to handle emergency situations. CEO Mohammad Shawar described the initiative as a “real partnership in issues affecting citizen safety.” In October, the bank expanded its community efforts through the ‘Back to School’ initiative in the Gaza Strip. In coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the bank distributed approximately 7,000 school bags to primary students across several governorates, including Gaza, North Gaza, Khan Younis, the Middle Area, and Rafah. General Manager Mahmoud Al-Shawa stated that the initiative seeks to reinforce “hope, stability, and the right to learn for children in the region” despite difficult circumstances. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-12: Bank of Palestine launches school support initiative in Gaza Bank of Palestine launched a ‘Back to School’ initiative in the Gaza Strip, distributing 7,000 school bags and organizing recreational activities for primary students in various governorates. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/bank-of-palestine-launches-school-support-initiative-in-gaza ### 2026-09-26: Bank of Palestine supports emergency training for local authorities Bank of Palestine is supporting a specialized first aid and emergency response training workshop for Palestinian local authorities in Jericho to enhance emergency readiness. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/bank-of-palestine-supports-emergency-training-for-local-authorities --- Cite as: Bank of Palestine community support initiatives.
