Spanish basketball club Baskonia dismissed head coach Paolo Galbiati following a difficult start to the EuroLeague season, which included one win and four losses in five matches. While the team maintained a perfect record in the domestic Liga Endesa, management moved to address the performance crisis in European competition.

Sporting director Felix Fernandez later clarified that Galbiati’s departure was also influenced by a breakdown in the relationship between the coach and the organization, specifically citing disagreements regarding professional conduct and requests for improved economic conditions and contract terms.

Velimir Perasović was appointed as the new head coach, marking his fourth stint with the Vitoria-based club. During his introduction, Perasović expressed a commitment to improving the team’s EuroLeague standing and commented on the talent of player Stefan Joksimovic.
