The Batalha do Beco event, organized by the Coletivo Batalha do Beco, continues to host cultural celebrations at Praça Rio Branco in the historic center of João Pessoa. These events, such as the Baile Charme JP, are designed to celebrate black culture and hip-hop diversity while providing free spaces for different generations to connect through music and dance.

The initiative receives support from the João Pessoa City Hall via its Cultural Foundation (Funjope). Funjope executive director Marcus Alves has noted that the city supports these activities as part of a municipal policy to value diverse artistic expressions and promote the active occupation and revitalization of the historic center. Organizer Erick Johnson (Asec MC) has emphasized that events like Baile Charme JP aim to strengthen the local urban scene by providing free spaces for connection through music and dance.

Recent iterations in October 2026 have featured a variety of local and guest talents. Performances included DJs Isa Queiroz and Raiteck, as well as GL featuring Sevenby, Nevike, DJ Black, and DJ Nel no Beat. More recent programming has featured artists Dudu Gueto and NAP, alongside a rap battle competition where 16 MCs compete through multiple stages for cash prizes. The event occurs every Saturday, providing a recurring space for young people to demonstrate artistic mastery in musical and literary languages while strengthening hip-hop and peripheral cultures through the occupation of public spaces.
