During bye-elections in the Disina State Constituency of Bauchi State, the Bauchi State Police Command arrested approximately 47 individuals. The suspects were allegedly found at polling units armed with firearms, cutlasses, and sticks while posing as members of a state-owned security outfit.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu described the incident as a “blatant disregard for lawful directives and an attempt to undermine the electoral process,” noting that the arrests occurred despite a directive prohibiting quasi-security agencies from participating in election security. While the suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation, the Bauchi State Deputy Governor expressed concern regarding the alleged intimidation of political supporters by security personnel and called for restraint.
