Governor Douye Diri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to maintain peace and protect critical national assets. 

In discussions with senior military officers, including the General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army 6 Division, the Governor requested a review of Bayelsa’s military alignment. He suggested transitioning from the 6th Division in Port Harcourt to the 83rd Division in Benin, Edo State, to improve logistics and coordination. 

Additionally, the Governor welcomed the proposed establishment of new army formations and an artillery regiment within the Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, and Nembe local government areas.
