Sources: 39. Developments: 5. The iconic television series ‘Baywatch’ is set to return in a sequel series, scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Developed by Fox Entertainment Studios and Fremantle, the 12-episode series is expected to be released via a Disney-owned streaming service, with episodes becoming available on Hulu the following day. In Europe, the series will be available on Prime Video. Starring Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon—the grown son of the original character Mitch Buchannon—the plot follows Hobie as a Baywatch Captain whose life is disrupted by the arrival of his daughter, Charlie Vale (played by Jessica Belkin), who seeks to join the lifeguard team. The trailer features high-stakes action, including a plane crash, a wildfire, and an exploding lifeguard tower, while maintaining the franchise’s signature slow-motion beach runs. The ensemble cast includes Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Thaddeus LaGrone, Brooks Nader, and Livvy Dunne, who is making her acting debut. Megan Thee Stallion is also set to appear as a beach bystander. Returning faces from the original show include David Chokachi as Cody Madison, Erika Eleniak as Shauni McClain, Kelly Packard as April Giminski, and Michael Bergin. Production is led by showrunner Matt Nix, with the series premiere directed by McG. While the trailer has generated excitement, some social media reactions have expressed skepticism regarding the casting of influencers and the reliance on nostalgia. Additionally, reports indicate that Amazon Prime Video is also preparing its own reimagining of the series for early 2027. ## Claims - The Baywatch reboot will premiere on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
