# Beira Baixa Line railway repairs and reopening

Following damage caused by Storm Kristin, rail traffic on the Beira Baixa Line has resumed on the section between Mouriscas-A and Vila Velha de Ródão. 

The restoration required a €3.4 million investment by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) and CP – Comboios de Portugal to repair two landslides that had suspended circulation since March. Technical repairs included slope stabilization using 5,500 cubic meters of rockfill, the construction of reinforced concrete structures on micro-piles, improved drainage, and the replacement of tracks and telecommunications infrastructure. Geotechnical monitoring equipment was also installed to ensure long-term stability.

The reopening of this section allows for the restoration of Regional and Intercity services across the entire 240-kilometer line, which connects Entroncamento to Guarda, as well as the resumption of freight operations.
