The sixth edition of the Bellini International Context festival in Catania, Italy, continues with a series of musical performances exploring Italian melodic traditions and 19th-century repertoire.

A featured concert, ‘Melodia infinita’, scheduled for September 24, 2026, at Cortile Platamone, showcases soprano Juliette Di Bello and pianist Francesco Nicolosi. The program focuses on the expansive melodic style of Vincenzo Bellini through works such as ‘Norma’, ‘Il pirata’, and ‘La Straniera’, alongside piano transcriptions by Beethoven, Sigismund Thalberg, Chopin, Liszt, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco. The festival’s broader programming aims to trace an emotional journey through various lyrical styles, including works by Puccini, Rossini, Gershwin, and Tosti.

A central highlight of the festival is the production of the opera ‘I Puritani’ at the Teatro Massimo Bellini, running from September 3 to October 1. Directed by Renato Bonajuto and conducted by Fabrizio Maria Carminati, the production features a cast including Jessica Pratt, Irina Lungu, Dmitry Korchak, and Valerio Borgioni.

The festival’s reach extends to Messina, where the National Youth Orchestra ‘Giuseppe Sinopoli’, directed by José Jesús Olivetti, is scheduled to perform 19th-century repertoire at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele on September 29. This program includes works by Bellini, Rossini, Verdi, and Mendelssohn, featuring soloists soprano Giuliana Di Stefano and violinist Vikram Francesco Sedona.
