Private school teachers in Belo Horizonte and the surrounding region voted to suspend their strike following a ruling by the Regional Labor Court (TRT) that recognized the strike’s legitimacy.

While activities are set to resume, educators rejected proposals from school owners to modify the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The rejected changes included ending salary parity, altering compensation for reduced workloads, and splitting the agreement into separate categories for basic and higher education. Teachers argued these moves would weaken collective bargaining power. A new strike has been approved for November, pending a TRT judgment regarding ongoing negotiations.
