Data from mobility technology company TomTom indicates that drivers in Belo Horizonte lost an average of 130 hours to traffic congestion during peak periods in 2025, ranking the city among the highest in Brazil for time lost in traffic.

In response to urban challenges, the municipal government has introduced several infrastructure and regulatory updates.
