Traffic loads during peak periods have been estimated to exceed 1,000 vehicles per hour in a single direction. The situation was further complicated by temporary road closures related to the Istrian cycling marathon. Piran Mayor Andrej Korenika has previously called on Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec to take immediate action regarding these disruptions.

As of mid-October, the renovation is nearing completion. The project, costing approximately 995,488 euros, is funded by the DRSI (803,824.87 euros) and the Municipality of Izola (191,663.77 euros). The works aim to replace the temporary roundabout with a permanent design featuring a bypass lane for vehicles traveling from Izola or Belveder toward Strunjan to reduce future interference. On October 16, the traffic lights were scheduled for removal to restore two-way traffic and improve pedestrian safety.
