In Bengaluru, police arrested 32-year-old Sagar Chandra Rawat for the alleged murder of his wife, Anusuya. Investigators state the couple, originally from Odisha, had a financial dispute on August 11.

Police allege that Rawat strangled Anusuya and kept her body in their home for three days before abandoning it at a vacant site in MS Nagar Agrahara Layout, wrapped in a mattress. The body was discovered on September 2 by sanitation workers. Due to decomposition, authorities used a clothing tag found on the body to confirm the victim's identity. Rawat was apprehended approximately 20 days after the incident.
