The Berliner Volksbühne launched its new season with a performance art installation by Austrian artist Florentina Holzinger titled ‘House Wash’. The performance, which involved performers scrubbing the building’s facade, served to conclude the theater’s use of a temporary 25-meter swimming pool. Intendant Matthias Lilienthal stated the pool project was intended as a “protest against the decay of urban infrastructure” and attracted approximately 20,000 visitors.
