The snapshots describe separate bilateral initiatives between African nations aimed at strengthening regional ties.

Mauritania and Senegal have scheduled the inaugural ‘Senegal-Mauritania Friendship Week’ in Nouakchott for November 13 to 20, 2026. Organized under the theme ‘Youth and Development,’ the event seeks to bolster historical, cultural, and religious connections between the two countries.

Separately, Morocco and Guinea-Bissau launched an economic promotion week in Rabat on September 7 to introduce Guinea-Bissau’s economic potential to Moroccan business operators. This initiative includes strategic meetings in Rabat, Casablanca, and Dakhla to enhance trade flows.

Furthering regional engagement, Guinea and Morocco held the eighth session of the Guinea-Morocco Joint Cooperation Commission. During this session, the two nations reaffirmed their strategic partnership, with a focus on the ‘Simandou 2040’ program aimed at driving Guinea’s economic transformation. Guinea also reiterated its support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. This partnership was further solidified by the signing of 25 cooperation agreements covering sectors such as finance, transport, agriculture, energy, and health.

Additionally, Guinea and Sierra Leone are working to consolidate their relationship following a visit to Conakry by Sierra Leonean Vice-President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. The two governments reached a consensus on managing migration and securing common borders, proposing the issuance of consular and merchant cards to facilitate mobility and economic activity for their citizens.
