A South Los Angeles family, Nyla Craft and Marco Bernal, welcomed three boys—Elio, Elias, and Enzo—on August 18 at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. 

Medical professionals characterized the birth as a rare occurrence of ‘mixed triplets’ achieved through spontaneous, natural conception. The set consists of identical twins who shared a placenta and one fraternal sibling with a separate amniotic sac and placenta. 

Unlike many triplet births that involve premature delivery and low birth weights, these infants were born full-term. The combined weight of the triplets was approximately 19.3 pounds, with each individual baby weighing more than six pounds. While the weight is notable, it does not surpass the current Guinness World Record for the heaviest triplets, which is 22 pounds, 12.6 ounces.
