In early October 2026, a major fire struck the Bisericani Monastery in Neamț County, destroying approximately 1,000 square meters of structures, including storage spaces, outbuildings, and religious objects. A 73-year-old man sustained minor burns during the incident.

Preliminary investigations by ISU Neamț suggest the blaze was an intentional act involving an ignition source. This event followed a previous fire at the monastery in late July that resulted in a worker's death.
