In Paros and Karpathos, athletic clubs reported that modified routes and ship delays hindered the ability of young athletes and teams to participate in regional competitions. In Santorini, local authorities, the Municipality of Thera, and the Santorini Hotel Association have protested the 2026–2027 winter schedule. Critics argue the plan lacks weekend connections between Santorini, Paros, and Naxos, effectively disconnecting the island. Concerns were also raised regarding the cancellation of afternoon departures from Piraeus and the implementation of impractical arrival and departure times.
