Boca Juniors is currently focused on both immediate competitive success and long-term squad planning. The club has secured a place in the Copa Sudamericana final following a 3-1 victory against Vasco da Gama, placing them in contention for five potential trophies by the end of 2026, including the Copa Argentina and the Torneo Clausura.

In preparation for the 2027 season, club president Juan Román Riquelme and coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena are targeting several reinforcements. Defensive interests include Valentín Gómez, Nehuén Pérez, Francisco Álvarez, Ignacio Vázquez, and Santiago Núñez. In midfield, the club has been negotiating for Matías Galarza, but is now re-evaluating interest in Rosario Central’s Franco Ibarra due to a meniscus injury to Tomás Belmonte that will sideline the latter for the remainder of 2026.
