The Bogotá City Council has approved a regulation to extend the transfer window for users of the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP) and TransMilenio. The new rule increases the time allowed for commuters to switch between services without paying an additional fare from 125 minutes to 150 minutes.

The measure, proposed by Councilman Rubén Torrado, was intended to address delays resulting from roadworks and increased traffic congestion. Technical evaluations indicated that average bus speeds in the SITP decreased by approximately 6% to 8% between 2023 and 2024, with morning peak speeds dropping from 26.8 km/h to 24.9 km/h and afternoon peak speeds falling from 25.64 km/h to 23.8 km/h. The change is currently awaiting official sanction by the mayor to take effect.
