Bolt Graphics, a Silicon Valley startup, is seeking approximately $100 million in funding at a $700 million valuation to compete with Nvidia and AMD. The company is focusing on niche professional computing markets, specifically targeting scientific computing, chip design, and professional 3D rendering through its Zeus GPU architecture.

To facilitate manufacturing with TSMC, the company has established an office in Taipei. Following its initial funding goals, the company successfully powered its first 12nm Zeus project test chip. This chip, manufactured by TSMC, passed temperature tests and demonstrated significant efficiency gains, consuming only 1.4 watts compared to the 35 watts used in previous FPGA prototyping.

The Zeus architecture includes dedicated hardware for electromagnetic simulation to accelerate physical algorithms for radar and camera lens applications. While the company has not released specific performance benchmarks, mass production of the final Zeus GPU, utilizing TSMC’s N5P process and RISC-V cores, is expected in 2028.
