In late September 2026, Mexico City hosted the second edition of the International Book Fair of Gender and Feminisms (FILGem). The event, organized by Adriana Romero-Nieto, brought together over 50 publishing projects and bookstores to centralize specialized editorial production and exchange perspectives on gender theories and human rights.

Following this, the 26th Feria Internacional del Libro del Zócalo (FIL Zócalo) was scheduled for mid-October in Mexico City. Described by Culture Secretary Ana Francis López Bayghen as a “fiesta del pensamiento crítico” (celebration of critical thinking), the fair featured 266 activities and 353 publishing houses. The programming addressed themes of fundamentalism and neo-fascism, and included a scheduled appearance by Colombian President Gustavo Petro for a talk titled “Colombia ante el abismo” (Colombia facing the abyss).
