The Bookmarkers initiative, founded by Grigoris Dimitriadis, was launched in Athens to promote literacy and the value of books in daily life. The project aims to increase readership, support small bookstores, fund research, and provide financial assistance to new authors.

Following its launch, the initiative began practical outreach, such as donating books to the 2nd Gymnasium of Agia Varvara. This specific action, facilitated by Nikolaos A. Koukis, was a response to a request from the school to provide educational materials for students.
