Tennis legend Boris Becker and player Alexander Zverev have engaged in a public disagreement regarding Zverev’s public image and political engagement.

Following comments by Becker suggesting that Zverev is perceived as blunt in German-language interviews and noting Zverev’s lack of public commentary on the war in Ukraine, Zverev responded by accusing Becker of telling “relatively much nonsense”. Zverev clarified that while he holds clear opinions, he prefers not to use social media for political statements.

Zverev also disputed Becker’s observations concerning crowd reactions at Grand Slam finals. Additionally, Becker addressed potential coaching opportunities, stating he would not coach Zverev due to the need for primary authority in a coaching relationship and concerns regarding Zverev’s “family business” structure involving his father and brother.
