In late July 2026 the Inspectorate of Republika Srpska declared that recent amendments to Banja Luka’s regulatory plans were illegal, as they did not align with the current Urban Planning framework. Prompted by the citizen group “Za Plan”, the inspectorate ordered the city’s spatial‑planning department to stop implementing revisions adopted by the city assembly in 2021‑2022, affecting projects in the Vrbanja, Lauš 3, Kumsale and Ada Debeljaci districts.

Around the same time, the Municipal Council of Novo Sarajevo approved a proposal to redevelop the long‑neglected Bosna Auto‑Grbavica II site into a mixed‑use business‑cultural centre, replacing earlier residential block plans with cultural venues, retail, services, pedestrian areas and new parking to revitalize the neighbourhood.
