In early August 2026 Azerbaijan introduced a one‑year, temporary visa‑free regime for ordinary passport holders from Bosnia and Herzegovina (and Singapore). Effective 1 August 2026 until 1 August 2027, Bosnian citizens may enter Azerbaijan up to three times per year, each stay limited to 30 days. Stays longer than 15 days require registration with the State Migration Service, and extensions or temporary residence permits can be applied for online or at ASAN service centres. The policy is presented as a step to strengthen bilateral ties and boost tourism.

A few days later, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Communications and Transport submitted a proposal to the European Commission seeking a temporary operational solution for professional drivers from the Western Balkans. The proposal asks that drivers be allowed to resume counting permitted stay days under the EU 90/180‑day rule until a permanent visa system for Western Balkan drivers is established. The request was discussed at the fifth meeting of the EU Commission Working Group on professional drivers, with officials from DG MOVE, DG HOME and regional representatives. Bosnian Minister Edin Forto highlighted the need to avoid repeated entry refusals and deportations that threaten transport companies and regional supply chains, while alternatives such as counting stay time in hours were also considered.
