Botafogo-PB is facing internal instability following a difficult run in the Brazilian Série C access quadrangular stage. After failing to secure wins against Santa Cruz-PE, Floresta-CE, and Maringá, the club dismissed head coach Marcelo Fernandes, assistant coach Marcelo Copertino, and executive football director Fernando Leite.

The team’s performance issues culminated in a 0-0 draw against Maringá at Almeidão stadium, which was marked by a confrontation between players and supporters. During the match, center-forward Henrique Dourado was struck in the head by a bottle thrown from the stands. Dourado subsequently issued a statement on social media regarding the incident, claiming his reaction was a response to the individual who assaulted him and denying he targeted the fans as a whole, though he acknowledged making a gesture toward the crowd.

Following the altercation, the 37-year-old striker and the club have rescinded their contract by mutual agreement. This departure occurs two rounds before the conclusion of the Série C quadrangular stage. Dourado leaves the club after two seasons, during which he recorded 14 goals in 66 appearances.
