Botafogo secured a 1-0 victory against Chapecoense at the Nilton Santos Stadium during the 31st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The match’s decisive goal was scored by Tiquinho Soares in the sixth minute of the first half, via a header following a cross from Matheus Martins.

This result marks the first win for Botafogo under the management of coach Tite, who returned to the sidelines following an automatic suspension. The victory allows Botafogo to climb to 12th place in the standings with 39 points, providing the team with breathing room in the fight against relegation.

Conversely, Chapecoense remains in last place with 18 points and is considered ‘virtually relegated to Serie B’. While Botafogo dominated much of the match with 20 shots compared to Chapecoense’s eight, the scoreline remained narrow due to Chapecoense goalkeeper Anderson, who recorded 11 saves to prevent a larger deficit.
