Detained between November 2024 and November 2025 on charges of threatening state security following comments regarding historical borders, Sansal uses the work to critique the perceived inadequacy of French diplomats and the silence of intellectuals and media outlets during his incarceration. Following his release, Sansal is scheduled to make his first visit to Morocco in November.
