The 52nd edition of the Bravìo delle Botti festival in Montepulciano was announced to take place from August 21 to August 30, 2026. Local officials, including Mayor Michele Angiolini, presented the program, noting that the event serves to represent the city’s identity through a competition between eight ‘contrade’ (districts) held in honor of San Giovanni Decollato.

The 2026 festival marks the start of a new Management Council led by Irene Bettollini, with organizers seeking to integrate digital communication to reach international audiences. 

As the event approached its conclusion on August 30, the competition moved toward its decisive phase. Participants were set to compete in a 1.8 km barrel-pushing race through the historic center toward Piazza Grande.
