The 23rd National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) in Brazil is centered on the theme ‘Ciência Delas’ (Their Science), which aims to address gender inequality and promote female participation in STEM fields. While women constitute 43.7% of scientific researchers in Brazil, global data suggests only 5% to 10% reach leadership roles. To support this initiative, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) has coordinated nationwide activities. In the state of Bahia, the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti) organized discussions across various municipalities, including Feira de Santana, Salvador, and regions such as Portal do Sertão and Chapada Diamantina. Academic forums, including those at the University Center of Brasília (Ceub), have highlighted the necessity of overcoming professional barriers. In Mato Grosso, the event commenced at the Pantanal Event Center in Cuiabá. Organized by the State Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Seciteci-MT), the programming integrates the 18th State Exhibition of Science, Technology, and Innovation, the 2nd State High Tech Festival, and the 1st State Hack Festival. State Secretary Dimorvan Alencar Brescancim noted the importance of encouraging young women to pursue scientific careers to bolster regional production. Running from October 26 to November 1, the SNCT is being organized by Fiocruz across nine states, including Amazonas, Ceará, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro. In Rio de Janeiro, the Manguinhos campus is hosting 160 activities, including a science fair with partners like the National Museum. Other regional highlights include the ‘Women in Science’ event in Belo Horizonte and interschool science fairs in Nova Friburgo. ## Claims - The 23rd National Science and Technology Week began on Wednesday, October 21, in Cuiabá.
