Sources: 11. Developments: 2. The Brazil national team, under coach Carlo Ancelotti, has issued new call-ups for upcoming friendly matches against Australia and India as part of a major squad renovation for the 2030 World Cup cycle. Following a disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup, Ancelotti is prioritizing youth, leaving out veteran players such as Neymar and Casemiro. Midfielder Matheus Martinelli of Fluminense received his first call-up to replace attacker João Pedro, who was sidelined due to a knee injury. Martinelli, who has no prior history with Brazil’s youth national teams, described the selection as a “dream come true” and noted that he received advice from Thiago Silva regarding the transition. Additionally, Nottingham Forest defender Jair, a 21-year-old who developed through Santos and Botafogo, received his first call-up. Jair has arrived in Brisbane, Australia, expressing that he was “in shock” regarding his inclusion in the 26-man squad and stating a desire to learn from experienced defenders Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães. While established stars like Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha, and Bruno Guimarães remain central to the transition, Ancelotti aims to use these matches to integrate young talents such as Endrick and Estêvão into the senior setup. The team is scheduled to play Australia in Townsville and Brisbane, before traveling to Kolkata, India, for a match on October 3. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-27: Martinelli receives first Brazil national team call-up Fluminense midfielder Martinelli has received his first call-up to the Brazil national team, replacing the injured João Pedro. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/martinelli-receives-first-brazil-national-team-call-up ### 2026-09-18: Matheus Martinelli receives first Brazil national team call-up Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli has earned his first call-up to the Brazil national team for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/matheus-martinelli-receives-first-brazil-national-team-call-up --- Cite as: Brazil national team begins 2030 World Cup cycle.
