The Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) has announced a new portfolio of infrastructure projects intended to enhance national port capacity and efficiency. Minister Tomé Franca emphasized the necessity of integrating public and private initiatives during the Sul Export 2026 event.

Regional development plans include modernizing the Paranaguá complex in Paraná via the ‘Moegão’ East Pier, restoring navigation capacity in Rio Grande do Sul waterways following 2024 floods, and improving access and safety for port complexes in Santa Catarina, specifically Imbituba, Itajaí, and São Francisco do Sul.

To assist with long-term planning, the ministry introduced the Port Saturation Monitoring (MSP) tool. This system aims to identify bottlenecks in ports, private terminals, and access points by evaluating installed capacity against projected demand.
