Brazil is advancing significant technological and industrial infrastructure projects aimed at boosting national innovation and reducing foreign dependence. 

Initially, the government selected the Augusto Severo Scientific and Technological Park in Rio Grande do Norte to host a new artificial intelligence supercomputer. Funded by the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) with an investment exceeding R$ 1 billion, the machine is expected to reach 7,200 petaflops. This initiative is part of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA), which seeks R$ 23 billion in investments through 2028 to address the fact that approximately 60 percent of Brazilian AI processing currently occurs abroad.

Following this, the National Council of Export Processing Zones (CZPE) approved R$ 206 billion in industrial and technology projects across several zones. Key developments include a R$ 181.7 billion data center project in the Pecém Complex and an R$ 18.5 billion green hydrogen project in Maranhão intended to decarbonize steel production. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish the New Industry Brazil (NIB) Nucleus to connect local companies with credit and technological support.
