Criciúma has continued its pursuit of promotion in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, though recent results have complicated its path. Following a 1-0 victory over América Mineiro at the Heriberto Hülse Stadium, where defender César Martins scored in the fourth minute of the second half, the team reached 56 points. This win maintained Criciúma’s fifth-place position within the G6 zone, supported by a run of three wins in four matches under coach Umberto Louzer.

However, Criciúma’s momentum was interrupted in its 35th-round clash against Sport at the Ilha do Retiro. Despite the return of attacking midfielder Jonathan Robert, Criciúma suffered a 2-1 defeat. Chrystian Barletta scored both goals for Sport, including a decisive penalty in the final moments of the match. This loss follows Criciúma's previous efforts to close the gap on the G4 group and solidify its standing in the promotion playoff zone.
