In Goiânia, the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) scheduled the deployment of 450 X2 model electric shock weapons across 110 patrol vehicles to facilitate the immobilization of suspects and reduce firearm usage. This initiative included the acquisition of motorcycles for rapid intervention, quadricycles for park patrolling, and administrative computing equipment. Simultaneously, guards in Campo Grande and Armação dos Búzios have engaged in training programs focused on instruments of lesser offensive potential (IMPOs). In Campo Grande, candidates underwent extensive instruction covering pepper spray, tear gas, and grenades, alongside simulations for proportional force. In Armação dos Búzios, training under the ‘Município Mais Seguro’ program focused on the technical use of Tasers and pepper spray to ensure legal and operational safety during encounters. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: Brazilian municipal guards undergo non-lethal weapons training Municipal Civil Guards in Campo Grande and Armação dos Búzios are completing training on non-lethal weapons, including Tasers and pepper spray, to improve public safety and proportional force usage. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/brazilian-municipal-guards-undergo-non-lethal-weapons-training ### 2026-10-09: Goiânia Civil Guard to deploy 450 electric shock weapons The Goiânia Metropolitan Civil Guard will deploy 450 electric shock weapons, 18 motorcycles, and quadricycles to enhance officer safety and mobility during high-risk interventions. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-civil-guard-to-deploy-450-electric-shock-weapons --- Cite as: Brazilian municipal guards non-lethal equipment deployment.
