Brazilian municipal governments have held various ceremonies to recognize the contributions of local professionals to society.

In São Paulo, the City Council presented the Jânio Quadros Medal and Diploma to 90 individuals, including members of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM), as a precursor to the GCM’s 40th anniversary.

Other municipalities also conducted honors: in Varginha, teacher Monique da Silva Ferreira received the Comenda do Mérito Educacional Municipal for her work in early childhood education and research into ethnic-racial relations. In Congonhas, Paulo Henrique Silva Santana was honored with the ‘Guarda Municipal Destaque do Ano 2026’ award for his long-term service in public security.
