Following the conclusion of the AFL season, the Brisbane Lions began a transition in their coaching leadership. Initially, players identified football manager Danny Daly as a potential successor to head coach Chris Fagan, who was expected to reassess his future after coaching a Grand Final against Fremantle.

After Fagan’s departure, the club updated its search for a new senior coach. Danny Daly declined to pursue the head coaching position, instead accepting an elevated role as general manager of football to oversee the club’s football program and participate in the selection panel. Assistant coach Cameron Bruce has since emerged as the frontrunner for the senior coaching role.
