Sources: 28. Developments: 4. Reports regarding Princess Anne have shifted from her role in managing internal family dynamics to her active participation in public royal duties and her rising public standing. Initially, Anne was described as acting as a mentor to Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, to help them navigate family tensions and public scrutiny. Insiders suggested she was guiding the future King to ‘rise above’ internal drama to maintain monarchy stability. By the third quarter of 2026, Princess Anne emerged as the most popular member of the British royal family according to YouGov Ratings data. Reaching a 67% popularity rating, she surpassed Catherine, Princess of Wales (64%) and Prince William (62%). Anne maintains a high net approval rating of 60%, supported by a low dislike rate of 7%. This increase in popularity follows official engagements such as travel to Norway and appearances at the Ascot Racecourse. Recent analysis suggests her high standing follows years of dedicated service and discretion, particularly during the medical recoveries of King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales, both of whom were diagnosed with cancer in early 2024. Observers attribute her standing to a reputation for ‘Quiet Duty’. Demographic data shows Anne tops rankings for men and Baby Boomers, while Prince William is most popular with millennials, and Catherine leads among women and Generation X. In comparison, King Charles III holds a 53% popularity rating, while Queen Consort Camilla sits at 33%. As of late October 2026, data confirms Anne’s position at the top of popularity rankings. Analysts attribute her standing to her extensive workload and reliability; in 2025, she completed 478 public engagements, making her the second most active member of the Royal Family. She is noted for maintaining a low profile regarding her private life while consistently fulfilling her duties and patronages. ## Claims - Carole Middleton served as a significant advisor and confidante to Prince William during Princess Kate's cancer treatment.
