Authorities in the Bronx are investigating the death of 57-year-old Josefa Soto De Carmen, who was found unresponsive in her Concourse Village apartment on a Friday afternoon. The victim exhibited blunt force trauma to her head and torso.

Following the incident, 33-year-old Bob Johnny Guzman Soto fled the scene. He was later apprehended near West 170th Street and Edward L. Grant Highway after a passerby recognized him from NYPD surveillance footage. 

Guzman Soto has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. While neighbors noted he may have struggled with mental health issues, authorities stated he has no previous arrest record. It remains unclear what weapon was used in the assault.
