The Les Républicains federation in the Lot department has established a support committee for Bruno Retailleau’s 2027 presidential campaign, led by referents Jean-Luc Maffre and Brigitte Rivière. The committee focuses on a platform of sovereignty, security, and economic justice.

In October 2026, former French Prime Minister François Fillon announced his endorsement of Retailleau during an event in Avignon. Fillon characterized Retailleau as the “only credible candidate who is clearly on the right” and expressed his ability to unite various right-wing factions. Fillon further distinguished Retailleau from Édouard Philippe, arguing that Philippe’s history under Emmanuel Macron prevents him from representing the same political logic, and described the upcoming 2027 election as a decisive moment rather than a “reality TV show.”

Despite this endorsement, political commentary from the journal Contrepoints has questioned Retailleau’s momentum. While the publication praised his positions on education, economic regulation, and immigration, it suggested his proposals might be perceived as too “technocratic or timid” to drive significant change. Recent polling indicates Retailleau’s support has fluctuated between 4% and 8%, as he faces competition from other figures such as David Lisnard.
