During a broadcast of Rai 1’s Porta a Porta, journalist Bruno Vespa engaged in a heated exchange with Sabrina Brizzola, the coordinator of the Unione degli universitari, while discussing Italian school dropout rates and university funding. Vespa criticized Brizzola, suggesting that young people should “document yourselves” and study more to avoid saying “nonsense.”

Following the confrontation, Vespa issued a formal apology for his “strong tone.” While expressing regret for his conduct toward Brizzola, he maintained his position regarding the accuracy of the data, arguing that figures concerning dropout rates and scholarships were being misrepresented by opposition voices.
