The Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem released a report titled ‘The Elimination Project,’ which alleges that Israel is implementing a systematic political project to dismantle Palestinian existence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Based on approximately 2,000 testimonies, official documents, and UN data, the report identifies five interconnected mechanisms driving this process: violence and intimidation, movement restrictions, economic strangulation, sociopolitical destruction, and ethnic cleansing through land seizure. The organization asserts that while these policies have existed since 1967, they have accelerated and become more institutionalized under the Netanyahu government, particularly following the events of October 7, 2023.

The report links these actions to the transfer of authority from military to civilian Israeli bodies, specifically highlighting the role of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his 2017 ‘Decisive Plan.’ B’Tselem notes that under the current administration, a record 104 new settlements have been approved in the West Bank. The Israeli military has rejected the accusations, describing them as ‘false, baseless, and blatantly detached from reality.’
