Buchloe station is the second-largest rail transfer hub in the Swabia region, situated in the Ostallgäu district. It serves as a vital junction for travelers traveling between Munich, Augsburg, and the Allgäu region.

Established on the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn, the station opened on September 1, 1847. The rail line connects Hof to Lindau via Augsburg and Kaufbeuren. Originally, the station functioned as one of eleven designated water and express freight stations located between Augsburg and Lindau.

Historical records indicate the station was established approximately one kilometer west of the town. During the planning of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn, an alternative route via Landsberg and Waal was considered, but the decision was made to follow a simpler path through Bobingen, Schwabmünchen, and Buchloe.
