Following a tip from border police, authorities intercepted 1,740 kg of frozen sheep offal and 100 kg of pastries transported from Turkey and Romania that lacked labels, identification, and documentation. An additional 360 kg of sheep offal was found in a nearby forested area; the entire quantity is slated for destruction. Furthermore, the BFSA blocked two large shipments due to excessive pesticide residues: 19,200 kg of dessert grapes from Turkey, which will be returned to its country of origin, and 9,502 kg of peppers from North Macedonia, which are designated for destruction. Minister of Agriculture and Food Plamen Abrovski has defended the BFSA regarding the entry of sunflower seeds from Argentina, announcing new strict procedures including the sealing and tracking of shipments to ensure traceability.
