In late September 2026, CSKA 1948 Executive Director Pepa Marnikas identified winning the Sesame Bulgarian Cup as a primary objective for the season. Following the tournament draw, Marnikas noted that the club would not underestimate opponents from lower groups, citing the high motivation of smaller teams and the psychological intensity of local derbies.

By late October, focus shifted to CSKA Sofia, which confirmed it would proceed with its scheduled efbet Liga derby against Ludogorets at the Vasil Levski National Stadium. Despite a congested schedule involving a Conference League away match and the expected absence of top scorer Joel Schwartz due to injury, the club opted not to postpone the fixture.
