The Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) has launched an internal investigation into its former leadership, specifically targeting former president Stefka Kostadinova regarding disputed travel expenses.

BOC Secretary General Danail Dimov reported that audit protocols identified plane tickets totaling 21,770.24 BGN purchased for Kostadinova and former Secretary General Belcho Goranov for a trip to Denpasar, Bali, in August 2023. Dimov stated that if Kostadinova did not attend the trip, the expenditure would be considered a “fictitious expense,” which constitutes a major violation.

Kostadinova has denied the allegations, claiming she has “never set foot in Bali.” She also disputed claims regarding her salary relative to other employees. However, she acknowledged using a BOC credit card for restaurant expenses on the Black Sea coast during an official visit by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach.
