Burnley FC appointed Fabio Celestini as head coach following the dismissal of Nicky Hayen. The decision was made as the Championship side faced a sporting crisis, sitting in 22nd place with only one victory in twelve league matches after a 4-1 defeat to Lincoln City.

Celestini, who has managed clubs such as FC Basel and CSKA Moscow, expressed his intention to implement a sustainable, long-term project rather than focusing solely on immediate results. He faces significant challenges including defensive issues and a high number of player injuries as the club attempts to move out of the relegation zone.
