The Busan International Film Festival has announced several award recipients for its upcoming ceremony on October 6.

Hong Kong filmmaker Ann Hui has been selected for the Camellia Award, an honor established in partnership with Chanel to recognize filmmakers who elevate the status of women in the industry. A veteran of the Hong Kong New Wave, Hui has directed 27 feature films and two documentaries since 1979.

Additionally, festival founder Kim Dong-ho will receive the Korean Cinema Award. Kim, who established the festival in 1996, is credited with maintaining its independence from government censorship during its formative years. His career includes leadership roles such as vice minister at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and president of the Korean Film Council.
